Food Division Technical Support Representative
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for assisting with the organization and/or development of projects, programs, research, service and sales in the Food Division; provide technical support and advice to Sales and Technical personnel and assist the Sales Force in assuring their customers maintain a high-quality cleaning and sanitation program.
REPORTS TO:
Food Division Technical Support Representative reports directly to the Food Division Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Determine and implement research and development needs.
- Schedule, conduct, write and present survey proposals.
- Assist in training Sales Force and Technical Staff.
- Assist in starting sanitation programs for new customers.
- Provide technical advice to Sales Force and customers.
- Assist Sales Force, Technical Staff and customers in developing sSOPs.
- Maintain information files: e.g. customer/sales communication, survey proposals, customer inventories, and technical information.
- Assist in development and testing of new products for the Food Industry.
- Arrange customer training programs: e.g. chemical handling and safety, and proper cleaning procedures.
- Assist in providing regulatory information to employees and customers.
- Perform various in-plant audits and assist in evaluating customers cleaning and sanitation program.
- Research and implement new technology relevant to Food Industry cleaning and sanitation.
- Participate in travel as necessary to perform essential duties and accommodate customer needs. Expected travel time is 50%.
OCCASSIONAL DUTIES:
- Order equipment used by customers.
- Arrange for repair of chemical application equipment.
- Assist in writing the company newsletter.
- Edit reports for the Sales Force.
- Prepare Technical Data Sheets for products in Food Division Sales.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
Each employee has the organizational freedom and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process and quality or environmental system; identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality or environmental system; initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels; verify the implementation of solutions; control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Food Division Technical Support Representative will have:
- At least a high school diploma, or its equivalent, and relevant job specific training, determined by the Company.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a company vehicle, adhering to the Madison Chemical Vehicle Policy.
- The ability and willingness to work overtime and weekend hours as required.
- The Ability to work independently and under pressure and be able to consistently work the schedule required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with the employees, management, sales representatives, technical support representatives, and customers.
- Must be organized, accountable and self-motivated.
EXPECTATIONS OF TRAVEL:
This role requires regular in-state and out-of-state travel with some overnight stays. Food Division Technical Support Representative should expect to travel 50% of the time.
